This is a simple character/save game editor for D/Generation. I was
having difficulty finishing the game, so I figured out at least some
of the save game format, and wrote this little program to improve my
situation somewhat. This program is NOT an unprotect, and does not
violate copy protection in any way.

To use:

CD to the directory where you normally run D/Generation. On my
machine, that directory is C:\DGEN.

You should have already been playing some, and have saved a game.
This program will tell you if you haven't.

Run the program DGENEDIT. This will improve your situation
somewhat, and prints out before and after statistics. The next time
you restore a game in D/Generation, you will get the updated save file.

There are three options that DGENEDIT recognizes:

DGENEDIT, or DGENEDIT /NORMAL
This is the default, and gives you one extra life, two extra
grenades, and one extra bomb, freezer, sheild, and barrier. This
option will not change your status if you already have lots of
stuff, in the interest of playability. I recommend you use this
option, as the others quickly make the game too easy.

DGENEDIT /MORE
As in, 'Gimme MORE!'. This is similar to the /NORMAL setting,
but gives you a little added boost.

DGENEDIT /MAX
Takes all the fun out of the game, although it is kind of fun
running around and blowing up everything. This gives you 80 lives,
80 grenades, and so many bombs, freezers, sheilds, and barriers they
don't even print out nicely during the actual game (they still work,
though). After I finished the game the first time, I used this to
see how fast I could finish the game (a little under an hour).

This zip file contains:

#readme This file.
dgenedit.exe The D/Generation saved game editor.
dgenedit.c The C code for the editor. I know, you don't care, and
the code is poorly documented in any case, but it's there
in case you want to fool around with it.
