THIS PATCH CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING FOUR ZIPPED PATCHES, EACH WHICH CONTAINS A
MODIFIED SQUAD0.DAT FILE.

FOR USE IF YOU ARE FLYING FOR THE LUFTWAFFE.  THIS ELIMINATES SITUATIONS IN 
CAMPAIGNS WHERE YOU FORCED TO FLY BY YOURSELF. ALL UNITS, EXCEPT JET UNITS, 
WILL FLY IN FLIGHTS OF FOUR. JET UNITS WILL FLY IN FLIGHTS OF THREE, BUT 
THERE IS SOME VARIATION DEPENDING ON DATE. YOU MIGHT SOMETIMES HAVE TWO OR 
FOUR JETS BUT NEVER JUST ONE.

       NOTE: IF YOU LEAVE THIS VERSION OF THE SQUAD0.DAT FILE IN WHILE FLYING 
             FOR THE ALLIES, YOU WILL PROBABLY NOT SEE MANY SITUATIONS WHERE 
             YOU JUST ENCOUNTER 2 GERMAN PLANES. THE SQUAD0.DAT FILE CONTROLS 
             HOW MANY PLANES FLY FOR BOTH SIDES, SO YOU'LL PROBABILY SEE 
             FLIGHTS OF 4 GERMAN PLANES.  BOTTOM LINE IS THERE'S MORE 
             OPPORTUNITIES FOR VICTORIES!

FOR USE IF YOU ARE FLYING FOR THE LUFTWAFFE EXCEPT YOU WANT TO FEEL OUT-
NUMBERED.  GERMAN FLIGHTS ARE THE SAME AS GER4.ZIP. U.S. FLIGHTS WILL CONTAIN 
AN EXTRA SECTION OF TWO AIRCRAFT FOR A TOTAL OF SIX PLANES.  I HAVE READ 
SEVERAL BOOKS WHICH STATES THAT THE JAGDFLIEGER PREFERED TO ENGAGE THE RAF, 
SINCE THEY NORMALLY FLEW IN SMALLER FORMATIONS THAN THE U.S.  THUS, THE RAF 
WILL CONTINUE TO FLY 4 PLANE FLIGHTS.

IF YOU LEAVE THIS SQUAD0.DAT IN AND FLY FOR THE U.S. YOU *WILL* HAVE 6 PLANES
IN YOUR FLIGHT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE PRE-FLIGHT SCREEN IS NOT SET UP TO
DISPLAY 6 PLANES, SO THE WINDOW IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER IS GOING TO
LOOK ALL MESSED UP. *DO NOT* ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE FORMATION! LEAVE IT AT
"FINGER FOUR" AND THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEM. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE
FORMATION, YOU WILL CRASH THE PROGRAM.  YOU MAKE MAKE OTHER SELECTIONS ON THE
SCREEN LIKE NORMAL, JUST DON'T CHANGE THE FORMATION.

THIS SQUAD0.DAT IS LIKE GER4.ZIP PLUS IT PREVENTS YOU FROM ENGAGING
TEMPEST AND MOSQUITOS 6/18.  THE TEMPEST WAS NOT RELEASED FOR USE OVER THE
CONTINENT UNTIL MID-SEPTEMBER 1944. THEY WERE KEPT IN BRITAIN FOR DEFENSE
AGAINST V-1'S. THE USE OF MOSQUITOS IN AOE IS ALL WRONG WHEN YOU FLY FOR THE
LUFTWAFFE. THEY WERE NOT USED IN THE TYPES OF MISSIONS DEPICTED IN AOE, AND
ARE ALTOGETHER TOO EASY TO SHOOT DOWN WHEN THEY COME ACROSS IN UNESCORTED
RAIDS AGAINST BRIDGES. HOW UNREALISTIC IT WAS WHEN I FLEW AN INTERCEPT 
MISSION AND MY FLIGHT OF 4 FW-190'S KILLED 8 MOSQUITOS.  NEVER HAPPENED IN
REAL LIFE, SO WHY HAVE IT HAPPEN IN THE SIM? THUS, NO MOSQUITOS.

IF YOU LEAVE THIS SQUAD0.DAT FILE IN WHILE PLAYING FOR THE ALLIES, YOU WILL
BE UNABLE TO FLY THE TEMPEST OR MOSQUITO. THEIR SQUADRONS ARE STILL AVAILABLE
WITH OTHER TYPES OF PLANES.

JUST LIKE NOTEMPST.ZIP, EXCEPT TEMPESTS ARE BACK IN. USE THIS PATCH STARTING
IN THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER 1944.  MOSQUITOS REMAIN OUT.

NOTE: ALL PATCHES HAVE ALL BOMBER SQUADRONS WITH REDUCED RETURN FIRE. DON'T
FORGET TO USE PLT1-3.ZIP'S AND BMBRGUN.ZIP FROM AOEFIX.ZIP.


INSTALLATION AND WARNINGS

INSTALLATION - CHOOSE ONE OF THE PATCHES AND UNZIP INTO YOUR AOE DIRECTORY. 
THE AOE PROGRAM WILL AUTOMATICALLY USE THE THESE FILES INSTEAD USING THE DATA 
IN THE SIM1.DYN, SIM2.DYN, AND COMMON.DYN FILES. *NO* CHANGES ARE MADE TO ANY 
ORIGINAL AOE FILES, ALTHOUGH IT NEVER HURTS TO MAKE A BACK-UP OF YOUR FILES. 
OF COURSE, YOUR USE OF THESE FILES IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO USE THE MODIFIED FILES SIMPLY DELETE THEM.  THE PROGRAM
WILL REVERT BACK TO USING THE UNREALISTIC ORIGINAL DATA.

DYNAMIX DOES NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORT THE HEX EDITING OF THEIR SOFTWARE. IF YOU
ARE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH AOE USING THIS PATCH, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT
DYNAMIX. DELETE ALL FILES WHICH CAME WITH THIS PATCH AND SEE IF THE PROBLEM IS
STILL THERE, THEN CONTACT DYNAMIX IF IT IS. IF THE PROBLEM IS ONLY THERE WHEN
YOU ARE USING THIS PATCH, PLEASE CONTACT ME.  THE ONLY KNOWN "PROBLEM" WHICH
YOU MAY EXPERIENCE IS A SLIGHLTY LONGER LOADING TIME WHEN THE PROGRAM ACCESSES
THE HARD DRIVE.

ALSO NOTE THAT VCR TAPES MADE WHEN USING THIS PATCH MAY NOT FUNCTION IN AOE
PROGRAMS NOT USING IT. LIKEWISE, YOU MAY GET SOME STRANGE RESULTS IF YOU
ATTEMPT TO VIEW EARLIER VCR TAPES WHEN THIS PATCH IS INSTALLED.
